The ILDRCC is affiliated with GOFC-GOLD and serves as an information conduit to the executive committee. Participation is voluntary and open to interested individuals and organizations involved with direct readout technology and products. Current participation includes representation from civilian government, military, academic, private sector, and non-governmental organizations. ILDRCC is currently co-chaired by the US Forest Service Remote Sensing Applications Center (RSAC), the Mexican National Commission for Conservation and Biodiversity (CONABIO), and Geoscience Australia.
International participation provides an opportunity to expand knowledge of ongoing direct readout activities and the diversity of land applications and information needs. It also creates the opportunity explore and expand regional data sharing networks and understand them in a global context. In recognition of the feasibility and logistical efficiency of international communication, the ILDRCC has established regional nodes to act as points of contact within a region and between regions. Regions are roughly on a continental scale. It is envisioned that the regional nodes will assume responsibility to interface with direct readout facilities in their region, have knowledge of their current activities, and be able to generally represent those activities at international meetings and on ILDRCC teleconferences.
